Thicket Priory in North Yorkshire is a truly romantic and magical exclusive use wedding venue. The grade II listed Victorian house is set within 18 acres of tranquil gardens complete with a beautiful lake, woodland walks and a variety of exotic trees (psst! the giant redwood is home to a family of local fairies). The house was designed by Edward Blore (1787 – 1879), the same architect who designed (amongst other notable buildings) Buckingham Palace!
When you step inside Thicket Priory you’ll instantly feel a sense of calm and relaxation, it’s like a home away from home. Wellington boots by the back door to wear when exploring the grounds and pantries with a selection of hot drinks and treats for you to help yourself to. There’s even an ironing room complete with a selection of buttons and threads for you to make any last minute repairs; they’ve thought of everything!
The events team bend over backwards to ensure you have a memorable experience, their attention to detail is second to none.
Crazy Golf Setup Location
The main lawn between the priory and the lake is ideal for either of our Wedding or the Wedding PLUS packages. We can easily access the lawn with our van which makes setup straight forward and relatively quick (circa 2 hours).
What if it Rains?
Light intermittent showers and low winds on your wedding day doesn’t have to stop game play. Our 4 pop-up gazebos cover the 9 hole course allowing your guests to play whatever the weather. Alternatively we can set up the course indoors (see below).
Winter Weddings at Thicket Priory
Winter weddings at Thicket Priory poses no problem as we can set up indoors (assuming you’ll be using the chapel for the ceremony). We’d set up half the course at the West end of the ballroom (where the band and dance floor are usually located) with the other half of the course down the steps in the Morning room.
What The Venue Has To Say
From the moment Philip and Peter walked into Thicket Priory, we instantly had great chemistry with them, which for us as a venue is very important, we pride ourselves on our people skills, so we love working with likeminded suppliers. We have lovely wooden floors, and panelled walls in our Venue, and the care taken whilst setting up and dismantling the holes was flawless. The course has been beautifully made with so many fantastic features and details, with the ‘icing on the cake’ being that you get two very dapper gentlemen hosting the games, keeping track of the leader board and ensuring there is no foul play!! We can’t wait for them to come back for their next event with us. x
